HalalNearby

Why we exist

Halal food near you, and a straight answer about it

HalalNearby is a guide to local halal restaurants across Ontario. Find a place, see how to order, and see what we actually know about its halal status — and where that came from.

Finding somewhere takes three steps

01

Cuisines

Choose how you want to eat

Narrow the guide down to what you're actually in the mood for — a cuisine, a specific dish, delivery or takeout — instead of scrolling a list of everything.

02

Food

Find what you want

Halal food from all over the world, sorted into cuisines and the dishes each place is known for. Organised, so you can go straight to the shawarma or the biryani.

03

Location

Go out and explore

Search a city, or sort by what's closest to you, and find halal restaurants in your own neighbourhood that you'd never have thought to look for.

Plan your next meal

Browse local halal restaurants in a click. Check the menu, see who delivers and who does takeout, and get directions — enough to actually plan a meal, not just a pin on a map.

Local, and kept honest

We're an Ontario guide, built on the relationships behind roughly 1,400 local listings. Owners can write in to correct their own page, diners can flag anything that's moved, closed or changed, and we work through what comes in.

Halal information, with its source

We gather halal information from more than one place — certificates, the restaurant itself, the community — and we're re-checking all of it before we publish a status. Until a listing has been through that, its page carries no halal claim at all. Always confirm before ordering: not every item at every restaurant is halal.

Being re-checked

Halal isn't a yes/no, so we don't print one

A tick next to a restaurant's name tells you nothing about who checked, or when, or whether it covers the whole menu. So instead of a single guess, a listing is built to carry a running ledger of halal signals: what's verified, what the owner reports, what the community confirmed, and what still needs checking, each with its own source and confidence level.

Until a listing has been re-checked, its page carries no halal status at all — we'd rather show you nothing than a claim we can't stand behind. Confirm directly with the restaurant in the meantime.

  • Four clear labels once a listing has been checked: Verified Halal, Owner-reported, Muslim-friendly, or Needs verification
  • A source and last-checked date attached to each label before it goes live
  • Report anything that looks wrong, in one tap
  • Owners can write in and we'll correct their page

Run a halal restaurant? Being listed is free

Reach diners who are looking for exactly what you cook. Share your details, your online menu, and how people can order — dine in, delivery, or pickup. Inclusion in the directory costs nothing, and it never will.
